The annual broadcast of the celebrating new years at Space Needle returns! This year there will be 500 drones with images from the entire west coast since this year the Space Needle New Year’s event will be broadcasted to Seattle, Portland and San Diego. Hidden between Portage Bay and the UW medical center, Saint Bread has been named one of the nation’s best bakeries by the New York Times. They specifically call out the cinnamon-Okinawan sugar toast and the egg and cheese sandwich, which can be ordered with Hawaiian bread or Japanese melonpan. On a personal note, if you haven’t visited, I would highly recommend doing so! I love their cookies and even though they are a bit out of the way, it’s definitely worth the trip.

Nana’s Southern Kitchen in Kent gave away over 1,400 hot meals on Christmas Day which has become a Kent tradition. This is the fifth consecutive year the restaurant has been giving free meals on Christmas. While this is not Seattle, we didn’t want this good deed close by to go unnoticed 🙂 (source)

Museum Passes Temporarily Put on Hold

The Museum Pass program which offered free admission into 13 participating museums will be paused on December 31st. Current reserved passes will be honored, but pass holders will no longer be able to create new reservations after the 31st. As reported by the Seattle Times, the reason for this cancelation is due to the underlying pass vendor “discontinuing their service on short notice.” Seattle Public Library spokesperson Elisa Murray says the library should be able to switch to a new vendor by the end of January.

If you haven’t heard of this pass before, make sure to get one when they’re available again to visit the amazing museums in our city for free!
